This 4 night, silent Easter weekend retreat will be held in a contained and nurturing atmosphere of contemplative silence and is suitable for beginners as well as experienced meditators. Integrating the practice of meditation and the wisdom of Buddhist psychology, we will discover that healing only takes place when we learn to relate to ourselves with kindness and compassion. Through the cultivation of calm and tranquillity, our meditation practice creates the conditions to free ourselves from the addictive, habitual patterns within ourselves that cause suffering.
As we learn to embrace our human experience with courage, acceptance and understanding, we begin to integrate body, heart and mind, establishing a foundation of trust that becomes an inner refuge. Drawing on the inspiring teachings of Kuan Yin, the bodhisattva of Compassion, who ‘Listens at Ease to the Cries of the World’, we will discover how to live our lives from a place of compassionate wisdom, rather than from fear, shame and self-criticism.
To enhance the integration of body, heart and mind, daily sessions of Qigong movement meditation will be offered, as well as yoga and optional aromatherapy massages. There will be time for restorative rest, walks, mindful runs or bicycle rides through the beautiful fynbos and forests and I will also offer short, individual sessions throughout this retreat. Delicious vegetarian and vegan food will be savoured in silence.
