RETREAT: Open the Heart and Still the Mind – An Integrated Awakening
30 October, 2016 @ 5:30 pm - 5 November, 2016 @ 1:00 pm UTC+2
This 6-night retreat will be held in a contained and nurturing atmosphere of Noble Silence. Drawing on the wisdom of Buddhist psychology, we will discover that it is only when we learn to relate to ourselves with kindness and compassion, that healing can occur. Through the cultivation of calm and tranquillity, our meditation practice enables us to embrace our human experience with courage and understanding, so that we can free ourselves from the habitual patterns within ourselves that cause suffering. This leads to an integration of body, heart and mind and the development of trust, so that we can live our lives from a place of compassionate wisdom, rather than from fear, shame and self-criticism.
We will draw on the inspiring teachings of Kuan Yin, the bodhisattva of Compassion who Listens at Ease to the Cries of the World, to deepen our understanding of this process. To enhance the integration of body, heart and mind, Sue will offer daily sessions of Qigong movement meditation. In addition to sitting and walking meditations, there will be time for restorative rest, as well as for silent walks in the beautiful Mvoleni mountain range of the Southern Drakensberg. Sue will also offer short, individual sessions throughout this retreat.
For those wanting a longer retreat, Sue is offering a 3-night retreat, The Transformative Path of Meditation, at the Buddhist Retreat Centre near Ixopo, an hour away from Dharmagiri, from 27th -30th October, which can be attended before this retreat, creating a 9-day retreat experience.
