This daylong retreat, held in a nurturing and containing atmosphere of contemplative silence, is suitable for beginners who are new to the silent retreat experience, as well as for seasoned practitioners, who will have an opportunity to deepen their practice. It is part of a 6 week “Open the Heart and Still the Mind” course, but can also be attended separately.
Through the practice of meditation and the wisdom of Buddhist psychology, we will discover that when we feel contained and grounded, it is possible to let go of our habitual and addictive patterns of thinking and behaviour. The silent space of the retreat allows us to experience this containment, which is a prerequisite for any process of healing and transformation. Teachings will include an understanding of the importance of embodied and compassionate awareness, which facilitate access to the restorative power of silence.
In addition to guided sitting, walking and reclining meditations, there will be a session of qigong movement meditation to enhance the integration of body, heart and mind.
