From Fragmentation to Wholeness and Healing
6 week on-line “Open the Heart and Still the Mind” course (2021)
“Open the Heart and Still the Mind” courses are an integration of the wisdom of Buddhist and Western psychology and meditation, a powerful practice for deepening our awareness of the present moment and developing a more compassionate relationship to ourselves and others.
This 6 week on-line course consists of 6 Saturday afternoon retreats via Zoom. The intention as we explore mindfulness and compassion practices, is that we will find solace and support through this time together in silence, creating a sangha (community) of like-minded people, wherever we are. This course will draw on the teachings in The Adult Open the Heart and Still the Mind Meditation Deck, which is available to course participants at the pre-order special rate of R400.
During these 6 afternoon retreats, within a context of containing, nurturing silence, we will use meditation (mindfulness and compassion practices), wisdom teachings from Buddhist and Western psychology and mindful movement meditations to explore different ways to find inner calm and wholeness as we Open the Heart and Still the Mind. Through practices which deepen our connection to the body, heart and mind with kindness and compassion, we will develop an understanding of the ways in which the vicious inner critic and the curse of perfectionism create fragmentation and disconnection within. We will discover how to transform the fragmentation of the anxious mind, which has intensified during this extended time of uncertainty, to a more integrated, embodied and grounded experience of ourselves, which leads to wholeness, wisdom and healing.
Each session will include a teaching, guided meditations and a movement meditation (qigong or a walking meditation) to strengthen our embodied presence and to enhance our experience of the integration of body, heart and mind. There will also be an opportunity for reflection, to deepen our understanding of psychological and meditative approaches to inner healing and transformation.
This course is open to newcomers as well as experienced practitioners and is offered on a sliding scale, with the understanding that if you are unable to manage an amount from the outlined sliding scale, you are welcome to offer whatever donation is possible for you.
