This retreat will take place in-person, depending on the Covid-19 situation at the time.
This Autumn "Open the Heart and Still the Mind" silent overnight retreat begins at 9am for 9:30am on Saturday 22nd May and ends after breakfast on Sunday morning 9:30am and will focus on the healing and transformative compassion practice of metta (loving-kindness) meditation. The retreat is suitable for beginners as well as experienced meditators, and is held in the very nurturing and beautiful environment of Mont Fleur, nestled in the mountains near Stellenbosch.
Through meditation practices which cultivate kindness and compassion, we will discover ways to embrace our humanness with all its vulnerabilities. As we learn to befriend ourselves with an open, compassionate heart, we soften the voice of the inner critic which keeps us trapped in the curse of perfectionism. This allows us to free ourselves from the relentless cycles of self-attack and self-abandonment, creating the possibility of experiencing greater ease and inner freedom in our lives.
This retreat includes teachings from the wisdom of Buddhist psychology, guided meditations in all postures, qigong movement meditation, as well as an optional gentle yoga session with Victoria Albrektsen from Stellenbosch, to enhance our embodied experience.
A pre-retreat individual session via Zoom/Whatsapp is recommended for newcomers or if you have not attended one of Sue’s residential retreats before. The fee for this is R950 for 50 mins, fully covered by medical aid and R800 for 30 mins can be reduced if necessary. Please contact Sue on sue.stillmind@gmail.com to arrange a time.
