This ‘Open the Heart and Still the Mind’ weekend retreat is held in a contained and nurturing atmosphere of contemplative silence and is suitable for beginner as well as experienced meditators.
Drawing on the wisdom of Buddhist psychology, we will discover that when we rest in silence, grounding ourselves with an awareness that is embodied and fully present, we can shift from our habitual tendency of bracing against life to an open-hearted and compassionate embracing of our human experience. This allows for the healing of old wounds and the discovery of inner peace, wholeness and greater joy in our lives.
In addition to sitting, standing and reclining meditations, our embodied awareness will be enhanced by daily sessions of the ancient movement meditation qigong , optional yoga and aromatherapy massages, as well as silent walking meditations through the beautiful gardens of Temenos. There will also be time for restorative rest and short, individual sessions during the weekend. Delicious vegetarian and vegan food will be savoured in silence as part of our integrated practice. This retreat ends with lunch on Sunday 15th and includes free accommodation on Sunday night for those who would like to extend their stay on a self-retreat.
