RETREAT: Open the Heart & Still the Mind: Infusing Mindfulness with Metta & Compassionate Wisdom
20 March, 2025 @ 5:00 pm - 23 March, 2025 @ 1:00 pm UTC+2

This long-weekend Open the Heart & Still the Mind Compassion Retreat is held in containing & replenishing Noble Silence and is suitable for beginners as well as experienced practitioners.
Inspired by the wisdom teachings of the Dharma and an integration of Buddhist and western psychology, we will cultivate mindfulness and compassion practices which calm the nervous system and help integrate body, heart and mind, through Infusing Mindfulness with Metta and Compassionate Wisdom.
As we learn to listen and connect more compassionately with ourselves in ennobling, shared silence, we will cultivate a safe and nourishing home within. With a deeper understanding of self-care, we will discover the courage to honour and embody our authentic, heartfelt presence, with greater confidence, clarity and trust.
Inspired by the wisdom and practices of the Brahma Viharas (the Four Immeasurables), we will deepen our capacity for loving- kindness (metta), wise compassion, appreciative joy and equanimity, strengthening our capacity for more open-heartedness, self-compassion and healthier boundaries in our relationship to self and others.
In addition to the silent and guided meditations in all postures, poetry and inspiring teachings, there will be daily qigong, gentle walks in nature, time for journaling and deeply replenishing rest. Sue will also offer short, individual sessions throughout the retreat for additional, individual containment and emotional support.
A 30-40 minute pre-retreat individual session via Zoom/Whatsapp is recommended for newcomers or if you have not attended one of Sue’s residential retreats before. This provides greater containment and enhances and deepens the silent retreat experience for yourself and for the group. The fee for this will be the 30-40 minute medical aid rate and will be reduced if you are not on medical aid.
Please contact Sue on sue.stillmind@gmail.com to arrange a time.
CPD accreditation for health and mental-health professionals will be offered, with an additional, annual admin fee.
