This 3 night, long weekend "Open the Heart and Still the Mind" silent retreat will be held in the very nurturing and beautiful environment of Mont Fleur, nestled in the mountains near Stellenbosch.
Through meditation practices which cultivate calm and tranquility, and teachings which develop insight and understanding, we will discover that the joy of authentic presence arises when we learn to relate to ourselves and to life with greater kindness, compassion and wisdom. The containment of the nurturing silence allows us to establish an inner refuge, a safe home within, which rests on a foundation of kindness and compassion towards ourselves. This creates the conditions to heal the trauma and fragmentation that comes from living with habitual fear, addictive perfectionism and paralysing shame. This process will be supported externally by the beauty of nature, and internally by embodied and compassion practices which integrate our body, heart and mind and which transform the vicious inner critic, leading to healing, wholeness and joyful transformation.
This retreat includes teachings from the wisdom of Buddhist psychology, guided meditations in all postures and a short, individual session during the weekend. The ancient practice of qigong movement meditation, as well as the additional extras of Mindful Movement with Dominique Beaumont and 60 min aromatherapy massages with Katja Hamilton, will enhance our embodied experience.
A pre-retreat individual session via Zoom/Whatsapp is recommended for newcomers or if you have not attended one of Sue’s residential retreats before. The fee for this is R950 for 50 mins, fully covered by medical aid and R800 for 30 mins can be reduced if necessary. Please contact Sue on sue.stillmind@gmail.com to arrange a time.
